Do I support the Master Plan Advisory Group (MPAG)?

Hey Neighbors,

I will save neighbors some time, I completely support the Master Plan Advisory Group, and I hope that formal action plans put in place once the recommendations have come forward.  It appears my comments were taken a bit out of context as can happen online.

Some folks have come out and mentioned they are concerned that I want to dust off the prior Master Recreation Plans and enact those blindly without any input from the community.  I can say, that isn’t the case.

A lot of concern centers around this previous statement on my updates page, with the highlighted statement at the end being the largest concern.

The statement was responding to the question of the Movie Theater in the Lexin area of Downtown Celebration.  My response was intended to be in the specific context of a community center, or indoor community space, similar to the theater.

In the context of an indoor community space, similar to the theater, I felt that the prior Master Recreation plans were never fully enacted, and actions were not put in place. to bring all of the phases of the plan to reality.

Some portions of prior plans have been realized such as the Dog Park, as well as the Community Field Complex.  But other items including Indoor Multi-use Facility areas, Splash Pads, restroom additions, and enhancements have not come to reality.

I want the Master Plan Advisory Group to succeed but have the voices of these volunteers heard.  There needs to be a Board that is willing and open to take action on these items and see the plan put forward.  I feel that I could be one of the Board Members to help champion this.

Hopefully, this will be a point of discussion during the upcoming Candidate Forums on January 23rd.  Remember you can join online if you can’t join in person.

Thanks, Neighbors!
